Views on Remote Learning

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the classroom-based schooling came to a halt in attempt to curb the widespread. However, the clarion call “The school cannot stop” championed by the education minister, has been echoing around the country, which requires to gather teachers and students digitally. From my perspective, it’s upsides pale into insignificance when set against its downsides.

Truly, the bright spot is that students’ safety can be ensured while in-person schooling cannot meet the demand as learners and teachers are jostled in classroom. Another benefit is that parents generate great sympathy for teachers. The definitely felt how heavy teachers’ burden is and how wayward their child is, which will make contributions to the collaboration between teachers and family.

Despite its advantages, there are more signs that online education is less a cure and more a disaster. Firstly, It would yawn the inequity between rich students and pupils in distress who don’t have access to Internet. For those poor students, education is their effective remedy to get out of poverty, but now their dream collapse.

Secondly, moving education to internet wrecks a havoc on students physical health, with compounding their nearsightedness and obesity problems due to long sitting in from of the computer screens and sedentary lifestyle.

Last but not least, students’ learning result wouldn’t be satisfying in the absence of teachers’ monitor and push. And other factors such as distraction, poor family environment also play a role.

In a nutshell, internet-based learning does more harm than good. It is not a service available to all children who are supposed to receive an education. What’s worse, in exerts a ever-lasting impact on children’s health. It might be the most suitable when students are stranded at home . But it will trigger more detrimental effects in the long run.
