Monica: There's nothing to tell! He's just some guy I work with!
Joey: C'mon, you're going out with the guy! There's gotta be something wrong with him!
1、There's nothing to tell!
①第一种情况,提问者猜测或者潜台词里的事情并没有发生;
eg:
-It was Valentine's Day yesterday. What happened last night?
-There's nothing to tell.
②第二种情况,对实际情况做一个轻描淡写的处理;
eg:
-It must've been really hard to become such a good swimmer. How did you do it?
-There's nothing to tell.
eg:
-What were you talking about just now in the office?
-There's nothing to tell.
(fake smile)
2、go (out) with (someone): to date someone
eg:
-I hear that Kevin is going out with Katie—is that true?
-Yeah, they're a couple now.
3、gotta: short for "got to"
There's gotta be something wrong with him!
=There has got to be something wrong with him!
in other words, "There must be something wrong with him."
