渭上秋雨过，北风何骚骚。
天晴诸山出，太白峰最高。
主人东溪老，两耳生长毫。
远近知百岁，子孙皆二毛。
中庭井阑上，一架猕猴桃。
石泉饭香粳，酒瓮开新槽。
爱兹田中趣，始悟世上劳。
我行有胜事，书此寄尔曹.
On Visiting Old Zhang of East River Under Taibai Mountain
Translation/行路人
Upon Wei, the autumn rain falls—how the north wind squalls.
The peaks emerge when the sun’s out, Taibai rises into the cloud.
By river east lives my host, with hair on ears white as frost,
He’s lived a century--it is told, even his grandsons are very old.
A well sits in center yard, above which a kiwi tree is to regard.
The spring water sweetens the rice, a new jar of liquor tastes so nice.
I love the pleasure of rural life; contentment from work runs rife.
Such is my journey’s highlight, which I share with you in delight.
