Books I highly recommend
1.Tending the root of wisdom by Pual White(Its original version is in Chinese)
Reason:The book was written by ancient Chinese. But it still shines through times. Its words are concise, wise and value more than gold. It can guide me as life’s philosophy. For people who live in a global community and modern society, for who lost in noisy claims of values and beliefs, you need it.
2.The Crowd: A Study of the Popular Mind by Gustave Le Bon
Reason:It overwhelmed me enlightened me.It might provide you a new perspective towards reason hiding behind human behavior. You might think deep about trends or riots caused by the crowd after reading it.
3:The Lonely Crowd by DavidRiesman
Reason: I’m still reading it but I can’t wait recommending it to you. If you’re an American, you must read it because it’s about you, your people and your society. And if you’re an non-American, it will be your huge loss if you miss the book. It somewhat explains me some phenomena and conflicts I have seen and heard of. I mean insights in this book can help me better understand my life and the world. And make me realize I think shallow on some issues. What bothers you and seems personal probably related to a issue of the whole people. So why don’t check it up?
4.Poor Economics: A Radical Rethinking of the Way to Fight Global Poverty by Abhijit V.Banerjee,Esther Duflo
Reason:I think It's mainly about research and analysis in India about poverty, which involves society, education, debt, occupation, life style, etc. Reading it might alter your mindset in you economic life.
5:Anti-fragile: Things That Gain from Dis by Nassim Nicolas Taleb
Reason: Due to my reading of its so-so translation into Chinese and my limited English ability, I cannot articulate my harvest and its merits. But it’s written by Nobel Award Prize winner.
6:the 2-Day Diet by Dr Michelle Harvie
Reason: It’s easy. Its methods are affordable. It can improve your awareness about health. It can help you save money on food. Enough is enough. You don’t have to push yourself and try so hard. It's gradually working on me. What harm might it do on you if you take advice from a humanitarian and give it a try?Sorry, do I need to apologize for attempting being humorous here? Fine, deep insight I see myself as a humanitarian though I haven’t done something marvelous in helping people.
7.Scarcity by Sendhil Mullainathan,Eldar Shafir
Reason:It’s another book which not only can make your financial choice smart but also make you life easier for spending money and purchasing?Fine, it can kill time. And to be frankly, it’s far away from too bad.
Plus: There are still some classics, which I think they probably are , I want to recommend. I’ll see if they are worth your time after I finish reading them. I’ll be thankful if you correct or polish this English post.
