“a square meal”是“正方形的一餐”？

“a square meal”中的“square”和“正方形”压根儿没啥关系，在柯林斯字典中，“square”有一条释义是“satisfying；solid；substantial”，也就是“令人满足的；实在的；大量的”意思。所以，这个表达指的是“一顿饱饭”，指吃的东西丰盛得不得了。
