Prairie grass, thick and green,
Wilt and grow year and again.
Wildfires cannot wipe them clean.
They reappear in breeze of spring.

Distant blooms obscure the road,
City ruins against the sky blue.
My noble friend, I bid you adieu;
My sorrow deep as the grass in view.
