CATTI汉译英批改：别都用逗号连接，记得增补连接词！

英语中要表示比较、承接、强调、转折等等，都需要连接词，但是汉语是意合语言，连接词使用频率很低很低。

所以汉译英的时候，我们往往需要理清原文逻辑关系，增补连接词。如：

火车未停，请勿开门。

Don’t open the door untilthe train stops.

喝水不忘掘井人。

When you drink water think of those who dug the well.

连词的使用规则比较基础，但是经常有人在这方面出错，要不写的句子缺少连词，要不连词使用错误，今天“高斋CATTI”就给大家分享几种常见的连词使用错误。

国务院办公厅印发通知，决定延长2020年春节假期，各地大专院校、中小学、幼儿园推迟开学。

错误译文：The General Office of the State Council issued the decision to extend the Chinese New Year holiday of 2020, postpone the openings of all universities, colleges, secondary schools, elementary schools and kindergartens.

正确译文：The General Office of the State Council issued the decision to extend the Chinese New Year holiday of 2020 andpostpone the opening ofall universities, colleges, secondary schools, elementary schools and kindergartens.

错误1：虽然中文“延长2020年春节假期”和“各地大专院校、中小学、幼儿园推迟开学”直接并列，中间不需要任何的连词，但是中文意合，英文形合，两个并列的动词extend和postpone之间需要连接词，所以需要用and连接。

错误2：虽然是各类学校开学，但英文是the opening of，opening在这里是抽象名词，不可数，不能说openings。

世界经济增长低迷，国际经贸摩擦加剧，国内经济下行压力加大。

错误译文：World economic growth was weak, international economic and trade frictions intensified, downward pressure on domestic economy grew.

正确译文：World economic growth was weak, international economic and trade frictions intensified, anddownward pressure on the domestic economy grew.

错误1：中文三个并列名词或短句不需要连接词，而英文中三个并列名词或短句要在最后一个前加and，即“..., ..., and ...”，所以是“, and downward pressure on the domestic economy grew”。

错误2：具体某国经济前要加the，表示特指，比如，美国经济 the U.S. economy，中国经济the Chinese economy。今天这里的the domestic economy特指中国国内经济。

这些成就凝结着新时代奋斗者的心血和汗水，彰显了不同凡响的中国风采、中国力量。

错误译文：All these achievements are the results of the efforts and sweat of those who strive in the new era, they demonstrate extraordinary Chinese splendor and Chinese strength.

正确译文：All these achievements are the result ofthe efforts and sweat of those who strive in the new era, and they demonstrate extraordinary Chinese splendor and Chinese strength.

错误1：虽然中文前半句和后半句共用主语“这些成就”，但短句之间要有连接词and。同时后半句增补主语they，因为系动词are the results of和实意动词demonstrate不好直接并列。

错误2：这里是抽象的结果the result of，如果是多个实验的多个结果就是the results of。

人类终将战胜疫情，但重大公共卫生突发事件对人类来说不会是最后一次。

错误译文：We human beings will eventually prevail the coronavirus. This may not be the last time a major health emergency comes knocking at our doors.

正确译文：We human beings will eventually prevail overthe coronavirus. Yetthis may not be the last time a major health emergency comes knocking at our doors.

错误1：“但”翻译为Yet，表示转折。

错误2：“战胜”是prevail over或win the victory over，win the battle/fight against。

有条件的国家要在做好常态化疫情防控的前提下，遵照世卫组织专业建议，有序开展复工复产复学。

错误译文：Working on an ongoing basis to contain the virus, countries where conditions permit may reopen businesses and schools in orderly fashion in observance of WHO’s professional recommendations.

正确译文：Whileworking on an ongoing basis to contain the virus, countries where conditions permit may reopen businesses and schoolsin an orderly fashionin observance of WHO’s professional recommendations.

错误1：while表示与此同时，即在做好常态化疫情防控的同时，有序开展复工复产复学。

错误2：有的同学可能会考虑fashion可数不可数的问题，但这里in an orderly fashion是一个固定表达，表示“有序”，fashion表示“方式，方法”时可数，而且in fashion是“流行”的意思。

中国既对本国人民生命安全和身体健康负责，也对全球公共卫生事业尽责。

错误译文：China takes it as responsibility to ensure the life and health of its own citizens, but also global public health.

正确译文：China takes it as itsresponsibility to ensure not justthe life and health of its own citizens, but also global public health.

错误1：逻辑关系词not just ..., but also ...，不能直接说but also。

错误2：物主代词its不能丢，是as its responsibility，就像后面of its own citizens中的its，因为是前面主语China的。

测试：这句话该怎么翻译？人们取消了春节期间的走亲访友和各种聚会，克服困难就地隔离，外出自觉佩戴口罩、测量体温、保持社交距离。
