today was Saturday, we went my my cousin’s home for visiting the little kids. So when i came back home, it’s already 9pm. Just need to hurry up to finish my assignment.
I picked up “No, David” for today’s reading. By looking at the cover, i could see a very naughty boy who was trying to pull up the fish bowl, that’s the first impression for this book, it should be a book for teaching the kid’s life behavior.
The first page was said by David’s mom who was always saying “No, David”. the whole book concentrated on some actions the kids should not do, coz that would affect the others’ life. Like “No, David!”,”come back here, David!”,”David, be quiet!”,”Don’t play with ur food!”,”that’s enough, David!” ,”go to ur room!”,”settle down!”,”settle down”,etc. Until he made lots of troubles, and when he played baseball indoor, his baseball hit the vase, he knew he made a mistake, and tears came out from his eyes. At that moment, i think no one would not regret for what he did. But at the last 2 pages, David’s mom called him and said come here David, i guessed she would comfort him at that moment and said yes David, I love you at the end.
The story didn’t focus on what the mother’s way of handling this, but from the every word, i could feel the mom’s love for David. I guessed she would talk to David later about what he did was right or wrong, but at that moment David broke the vase, he needed the comfort the most.
This book’s language from mom was a little bit contradicted to kid’s mental feeling, like i learned before, we need to say some positive words by avoiding using some negative words, such don’t touch the vase, don’t step on the water, i used to learn that the kids would ignore the “NO”,and do the action. So what i need to do is to find the balance of the language.
