Today is Tuesday.
Amelia occasionally found the escaped monkey was in her backyard and then she asked her mother to give her a bunch of bananas. She wanted to catch the monkey and let it become the star animal of her zoo. She coaxed the monkey by the bananas, but when the monkey really appeared in front of her suddenly at night, she was scared. So the monkey ran away this time. She didn't give up her plan and asked her classmate to rig up a contraption.
Amelia and her classmates made many playing equipments in the backyard zoo. And she tried to get a sheep secretly. When Her parents were eating a grilled lamb at supper, they heard a sheep's bleat. Her dad found the hidden sheep and said to Amelia, "Are you trying to get my goat?" That means to make angry. Amelia said, "If I knew you had a goat, I wouldn't have gotten a sheep." Her mother said,"You don't have any more animals up your sleeves, do you? " That means a hidden or secret advantage or resource. Amelia rolled up her sleeves and shew there was nothing. Her parents could do nothing but warn her that she could not surprise them any more. Amelia answered,"Cross my heart," which means something that you say in order to emphasize that something is true.
