LyX

LyX is free. The .lyx file could be directly exported as .pdf, very convenient!
  • "LyX combines the power and flexibility of TeX/LaTeX with the ease of use of a graphical interface".
  • "On screen, LyX looks like any word processor; its printed output — or richly cross-referenced PDF, just as readily produced — looks like nothing else".

Install LyX

  • For Windows, you need to first install a TeX distribution, ex. TeXLive
  • then download and install with LyX installer downloads
