Even if you are the one initiating a get-together, it's common for the group to split the bill.
They won't think you are cheap.
Paying the bill in China reflects someone's personality.
Whether they're trustworthy, generous and dependable.
But in America, there isn't the same level of association with paying the bill.
Americans prefer to split the bill because they think it makes things more equal and fairer.
