球星的里程碑时刻
A new season means new milestones to conquer for the NHL’s best as Nikita Kucherov, **Connor McDavid **and **Nathan MacKinnon **look to reach career assists and points plateaus, respectively. Meanwhile Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby aim to continue their ascent on the League’s all-time lists.
Kucherov, the longest-serving forward on the Lightning roster, won his second Art Ross Trophy in 2023-24 after amassing a career high 44-100—144 – one of the League’s two 100-assist performances (also McDavid). Kucherov (320-553—873 in 725 GP), who needs one point to tie Vincent Lecavalier for third place on the franchise’s all-time list, also enters 2024-25 just 47 helpers shy of 600 for his career. He can become the fourth player born outside North America to hit the milestone before 800 career games – a feat achieved by Peter Stastny (628 GP), Peter Forsberg (670 GP) and** Jaromir Jagr **(769 GP).
McDavid (32-100—132) notched his fourth straight 100-point campaign last season and enters 2024-25 just 18 points back of the 1,000-point milestone (335-647—982 in 645 GP). The Oilers captain can become the third-fastest player in NHL history to reach the threshold should he achieve the feat within his first 10 games of the season. More stats on McDavid’s chase to 1,000 points can be found here.
*** **McDavid eyes another 100-point campaign to his already illustrious resume, with sights set on a fifth straight and eighth overall in his 10-season career. He can become the 13th player in League history to reach the mark in at least five consecutive campaigns and the first to do so since Steve Yzerman (6 from 1987-88 – 1992-93). The Oilers captain will celebrate his birthday on Jan. 13 and can join Wayne Gretzky (10x) and Mario Lemieux (8x) as the only players in NHL history with at least eight career 100-point seasons at age 28 or younger.
- MacKinnon is coming off a career- and franchise-best 140-point campaign in 2023-24 and enters the new season with 899 NHL points. Should the Avalanche forward surpass the 100-point plateau for a third straight season, he would join Lemieux (1991-92) and Phil Esposito (1973-74) as the only players in NHL history to reach the 900- and 1,000-point milestone in the same campaign.
新枫叶队长的宏伟目标
Newly-named Maple Leafs captain** Auston Matthews** set the NHL aflame with 69 goals in 2023-24 – the best single-season performance since **Mario Lemieux **had the same amount in 1995-96 – as he looks to become the fastest active player to reach the 400-goal milestone and put his name atop a franchise record list.
- Matthews (368-281—649 in 562 GP), who celebrates his 27th birthday Sept. 17, needs 32 goals to become the seventh player in NHL history to score 400 before age 28 – and the first to do so in more than 30 years.
Matthews became the first active skater to record multiple 60-goal seasons following his career year in 2023-24 and can reach yet another echelon should he repeat the feat in 2024-25. He can join **Wayne Gretzky **(5x), **Mike Bossy **(5x), Lemieux (4x), **Phil Esposito **(4x) and **Brett Hull **(3x) as the sixth player in NHL history with at least three 60-goal seasons to his name.
Matthews also collected his third career Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy in 2023-24 and joined **Alex Ovechkin **(9x) as the second player to win the award at least three times (since it was introduced in 1998-99). Matthews would climb yet another all-time list should he lead the League in goals once again in 2024-25.
犹他,启动!
The NHL’s newest franchise gets its inaugural season underway almost immediately when the puck drops for opening night in North America, as an ESPN tripleheader concludes with a clash between Utah Hockey Club and the Blackhawks. Find the storylines regarding all 32 teams in the #NHLStats Team Storylines: 2024-25 Season.
Overall, only five franchises collected at least 30 wins during their inaugural NHL campaign: Vegas (51 in 2017-18), Florida (33 in 1993-94), Anaheim (33 in 1993-94), Philadelphia (31 in 1967-68) and Los Angeles (31 in 1967-68).
Among franchises to debut in the 1990s or later, Utah can become the fourth to capture its first home win against an Original Six club and second to do so against the Blackhawks (also TBL: Oct. 7, 1992 vs. CHI). Seattle (Oct. 26, 2021) and Ottawa (Oct. 8, 1992) each did so against Montreal.
Four-time All-Star Clayton Keller is coming off back-to-back 30-goal campaigns and stands as the only player on the club’s active roster with at least one such season. Among franchises to debut in the 1990s or later, only four have featured a 30-goal scorer in their inaugural campaign: Vegas (William Karlsson: 43), Tampa Bay (Brian Bradley: 42), Columbus (Geoff Sanderson: 30) and Florida (Scott Mellanby: 30).
美洲豹在和熟悉的对手对抗中开启卫冕之旅
The Panthers begin their quest to repeat as Stanley Cup champions on the opening night of the NHL season in North America and will do so against a Bruins team they have eliminated in each of the past two postseasons. Florida seeks to become the 10th NHL franchise to repeat as Stanley Cup champions and seventh to win their first two championships in consecutive fashion.
** *After becoming the first Finnish-born captain to win a Stanley Cup, **Aleksander Barkov **(266-445—711) looks to move up the all-time points list among Finnish-born players and currently ranks tied with **Mikko Koivu **for the sixth most in NHL history. The list is topped by **Teemu Selanne **(1,457), **Jari Kurri **(1,398), **Tomas Sandstrom **(856), **Saku Koivu **(832)and **Olli Jokinen **(750).
- Each of the previous two seasons has featured a first-time Stanley Cup champion after Florida followed Vegas’ success in 2022-23. Should another team capture the trophy for the first time in 2024-25, it would mark just the second time in NHL history that three straight seasons have featured a first-time Cup winner following 2004-07 (TBL in 2004, CAR in 2006 & ANA in 2007).
新地方的老面孔:音乐城见
The Predators added some championship pedigree during this summer’s free-agency period, landing **Steven Stamkos **(2020 & 2021) and Jonathan Marchessault (2023), and eye their first postseason series win since the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs after becoming the first team in NHL history to acquire two 40-goal scorers in a single offseason. Find the moves made by all 32 teams in the 2024-25 NHL Offseason Summary.
- Stamkos (555-582—1,137 in 1,082 GP) joins the Predators fresh off his seventh career 40-goal season and is within striking distance of both the 600-goal and 1,200-point milestones. The two-time Stanley Cup champion can become just the 21st skater in NHL history to score 600 career goals as well as just the 20th to amass 600 goals and 1,200 points. Of note, **Sidney Crosby **(592-1,004—1,596 in 1,272 GP) will also join the club with eight more goals.
- Marchessault, who was briefly teammates with Stamkos during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons, posted a career-high 42 goals with Vegas in 2023-24 and could become the first player to reach the 40-goal mark during their first campaign with Nashville. Should both Marchessault and Stamkos reach the mark, it would be just the second time in Predators history that multiple players have scored 40 goals in the same season following 2021-22 (Matt Duchene: 43 & Filip Forsberg: 42).
Celebrini有望帮助鲨鱼重新振作
Following in the footsteps of fellow No. 1 draft pick and North Vancouver, B.C., native Connor Bedard, who enjoyed a Calder Trophy-winning season with the Blackhawks in 2023-24, Macklin Celebrini owns an opportunity to highlight another rookie class should he stick with the Sharks in 2024-25. The only time in NHL history the No. 1 picks have gone back-to-back as rookie of the year was a decade ago (2013-14 and 2014-15).
- Celebrini (18 years, 120 days on Oct. 10), the first No. 1 draft pick in Sharks history and set to be living with Joe Thornton this season, can become the second-youngest player to make his NHL debut with the franchise behind only Patrick Marleau (18 years, 16 days on Oct. 1, 1997). Only one player in franchise history has won the Calder Trophy: 25-year-old Evgeni Nabokov (2000-01).
- Eighteen-year-olds are not unheard of in the NHL – 340 players have made their NHL debut at age 18 or younger, including 83 active players and four last season – but it is rare for a player to break into the League and produce points at that age. Only seven 18-year-olds have averaged at least a point-per-game at that age (min. 20 GP), including No. 1 picks Dale Hawerchuk, Sidney Crosby and Patrick Kane.
四国对抗赛:最好的联盟球员在最好的杯赛中
Tentpole events on the 2024-25 NHL calendar include the 4 Nations Face-Off, 2024 NHL Global Series presented by Fastenal, Discover NHL Winter Classic and 2025 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series.
4 Nations Face-Off (Feb. 12-20): Rivalry will be at the core of this first-of-its-kind international event as the League’s biggest stars inject new life into age-old rivalries, with seven games over nine days in two cities deciding a champion in the first best-on-best international event involving NHL players since 2016. Players from the four competing countries – Canada, Finland, Sweden and United States – comprised 85% of the NHL in 2023-24. Many of the stars expected to participate will represent their country together for the first time or take budding head-to-head rivalries to a new, international stage. All 24 players named to initial rosters in June have either won an international gold medal, the Stanley Cup or claimed an individual NHL Award – or a combination of those achievements. Additional notes on each of those 24 players are available here.
2024 NHL Global Series presented by Fastenal (Oct. 4-5 and Nov. 1-2): The 2024-25 regular-season schedule begins with a back-to-back set between the Devils and Sabres in Prague, Czechia, as the city hosts its eighth and ninth regular-season NHL games (all at O2 Arena). A few weeks later, two teams with the strongest Finnish representation in the NHL last season are headed overseas to play a back-to-back set at Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland, as the Dallas Stars face off against the reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers. Click here for an #NHLStats Pack ahead of the games in Czechia (and stay tuned for another version ahead of the visit to Finland).
Discover NHL Winter Classic (Dec. 31): The NHL will host an outdoor game on New Year’s Eve for the first time as 19-year-old Connor Bedard – who has never known a world without NHL regular-season outdoor games (born 19 months after the first was played) – leads the Blackhawks into Wrigley Field for a showdown against the Blues.
2025 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series (March 1): The Blue Jackets and Red Wings will clash at Ohio Stadium, which opened in 1922, to contest the first NHL outdoor game in the state of Ohio (and first involving the Blue Jackets), adding a new dimension to the fierce Ohio State vs. Michigan collegiate rivalries.

The 2023-24 NHL season produced various storylines from start to finish and now 2024-25 looks to build on the numerous League trends that garnered all kinds of attention:
After Auston Matthews (2021-22 & 2023-24), Connor McDavid (2022-23) and David Pastrnak (2022-23) all hit 60 goals in the past three seasons, the NHL could see a 60-goal scorer in four consecutive campaigns for the first time since a 14-season stretch from 1980-81 to 1993-94.
Nikita Kucherov (44-100—144 in 81 GP) and **Nathan MacKinnon **(51-89—140 in 82 GP) both set single-season franchise records for points as 2023-24 was the seventh campaign in League history with multiple 140-point scorers. Should multiple players do so again in 2024-25, it would mark the second time in NHL history consecutive campaigns have featured multiple players achieve the feat and first in 35 years (1987-88 — 1988-89).
The 2023-24 season featured Washington and Vancouver each make the Stanley Cup Playoffs after they both missed the postseason by 12 points in 2022-23. Since the Wild Card format was introduced in 2013-14, each season except for one (2019-20) has had at least one team make the playoffs after missing by at least 10 points the previous season.
The NHL featured at least 6.0 goals per game for the third straight season (6.23 in 2023-24) and fifth time in six campaigns. The NHL can feature four consecutive campaigns with at least 6.0 goals-per-game for the first time since a 24-season stretch from 1970-71 to 1993-94.
The League saw 228 third-period comeback wins in 2023-24, tied with 2006-07 for the most in NHL history. The three straight seasons with 200-plus third-period comeback wins (210 in 2022-23 & 220 in 2021-22) is already the longest stretch in League history.
