引入佛学的观念，万物皆空。如果从永恒的宇宙即神的角度来看，没有什么是能一直存在下去的，活着的人，总有一天会死去，存在的东西总有一天会湮灭。由结果导向来看，没有什么事物是必将存在的，由此引出万物皆虚这句话。
万事皆允则强调了变革性，“万物皆虚”是在鼓励人去做自己想做的事，跟人必有一死，或重于泰山，或轻于鸿毛有共同性。
