Vicarious : experienced or felt by watching, hearing about, or reading about someone else rather than by doing something yourself.
Caliphate : an area containing an Islamic steward known as a caliph a person considered a religious successor to the prophet Muhammad and the leader of all Islamic regions.
The interpretation of Jihad varied intricately from different view points. To some it means to exert effort. To Islamic extremists it means to fight for Allah, that is in line with the 5 pillars of Islam:
1. Testimony of faith
2. Regular prayer
3. Giving alms
4. Fasting
5. Pilgrimage to Mecca
To restore the original meaning of Jihad, Islamic scholars explained that Jihadist are in fact part of the Salafist movement that follows the closest disciples of Prophet Muhammad. Again the Salafists are devided into three types based on their attitudes:
1. Quietists
2. Activitist-challengers
3. Violent-rejectionists
There are a thousand ways to interpret the Quran. The most extremists have stretched, to the extent of distorting, the teachings passed down to them. They have taken the attention previously on the other two categories being the more aggressive ones.
