"Thanks Hana!" John waved the pack of sushi in his hand to the young girl behind the counter in the small corner shop. Coming to the corner shop and getting himself some Oriental food had long been his occasional treat.
"He's such a lovely boy." Another customer in the shop, an old lady, said to Haha the shop girl with a smile.
"I know!" Hana smiled too, "He always looks so energetic and happy."
So as they said, indeed was John a happy boy. Both of the old lady and the shop girl's eyes followed him walking down the street with each step full of the lightness of youth, the tender smile never faded from their faces as he greeted random people on his way. His bright golden hair went wild when the wind blew, so did his loosely buttoned white shirt. He was adored by most; especially for those who came out of the Noah's Ark, John was a perfect example to represent the new generation born on the Earth. He's simple, he's innocent, he's smart, he's kind, he's full of energy, he's curious, he's got everything, he's the hope of human race.
"For someone born and bred in such a noble family, no wonder why he's like that." The old lady closed their conversation in a respectful voice.
The shop girl nodded in agreement. It was a well known fact of John's background; nonetheless, people liked John for who he was, even if his existence was nothing less than adding another precious jewel to the crown.
John‘s grandad was the most renowned and respected The Captain Junior, who was the person leading the remaining human race back to the Earth. The Captain Junior's grandad was The Legendary Captain, if it was not of his profound faith and courage, the people now smiling around could be most likely lost forever in the outer universe. The Legendary Captain, John's great great grandad, passed away on the spaceship, Noah's Ark. Afterwards it was his Grandson, The Captain Junior, leading the rest of the journey back home. After the returning, the Captain Junior politely yet firmly rejected the invitation of being the Honorary President of the United Government. At the time, he simply said that his ambition had been fulfilled and all he wanted then was to raise his own family. He got married on Noah's Ark and had a son, his wife passed away not long after their son's born, and he never married again. His son carried the same family feature of bright golden hair and darn green eyes, he grew up to become a biologist, devoting all his passion in researching the possible new species on the Earth. He then married his colleague, another biologist on the spaceship. Just before returning to the Earth, the couple decided to join the "Baby Wave". The wife was soon conceived, not long after the return, she gave birth to a baby boy, and his name was John.
Sixteen years had gone by in John's life, of which never a day was shaded by darkness. After leaving the corner shop, John decided to visit his grandad. When approaching his grandad's house, he heard some big noise from behind. He turned around, and that was the first time he saw Dr Yang.
John saw a man stepped down from a wind-blade, which was a common transportation tool in the space unit but not available to ordinary citizens. Wind power was applied on it to make it environment friendly and super fast. John had always wanted to try it out, so he watched the man with admiration. The pilot was in khaki uniform, as he stepping down the wind-blade, he took off his silver helmet. The sun shone brightly on his back, it took a few seconds for John to see his face clearly. It was then that John realised the pilot was around the same age as him, or even younger. His face reminded John of Hana, the oriental shop girl. He had dark hair and dark eyes, his skin was healthily tanned, he's not a big guy, but he appeared to be strong.
Holding the helmet in hand, the young pilot stopped for a short while. John watched him with interests, in his observant eyes the young pilot was as if trying to adjust himself back to walking mode from flying mode. His lips pressed tightly together, his eyebrows knitted, his eyes fixed on a point in front of him, and his body was stiff. Then he took a step, like a child dipping his or her foot into the bath to test the temperature of the water. When his first step landed on the ground safely, he seemed to relax a bit; and after that, he carried himself forward.
To John's surprise, the young pilot's destination was the same as his, he walked straight to John's grandad's house. Mouth half opened, John watched him knocking on the door. Soon his grandad appeared behind it. John was not far from the scene, but his grandad didn't see him at all.
"My name is Xing Yang, my mum told me to come and see you, Captain Junior."
John saw the look on his grandad's face changed, there were some deep emotions twinkling in his eyes, the young pilot's words acted as a key, with which a simple twist would open that rustic lock.
"Ah, it's you." That's all his grandad said in the end. The old man took a step back and let Xing Yang go inside.
