1. Trickle v.
to flow, or to make sth flow, slowly in a thin stream 滴，淌
e.g. Tears were trickling down her cheeks.
...which grey smoke occasionally could be seen to trickle out. 一般trickle用来形容流水，之前也见过很多这样的例子，形容烟的还是第一次，但不得不说很有画面感
2. temperament n.
A person's or an animal's nature as shown in the way they behave or react to situations or people（人或动物的）气质，性情，性格，秉性
e.g. By temperament, Septimus was one of nature's poisoners.
to have an artistic temperament 有艺术家的气质
3. victim-to-be n.
这个造词学到了，准妈妈就是mother-to-be， 以后想要翻译准这个形容词，就在名词后面加to be就好
4. remnant n.
= remains
e.g. It had already become nothing more in his head than the remnants of a dream...
5. rueful a.
feeling or showing that you are sad or sorry 悲伤的，懊悔的，沮丧的
e.g. She looked at him, and she smiled, gently and ruefully.
Part II Sentences

Part III
The witch-queen waited for the star at Diggory's Dyke in a hut, which was established by Septimus. Septimus, positive that this old woman killed his brother Primus, decided to take revenge by setting fire to the hut at night. The revenged failed and Septimus was dead because he was bit by witch-queen's snake.
Madame Semele's caravan arrived at Diggory's Dyke at midday. The witch-queen forced her to reveal who the passengers were by magic. Since she could not see the star, the star escaped narrowly. Once they arrived at the meadow by the Wall, Madame Semele turned Tristran back to the young man he was and the bird to a lady. Tristran wanted to introduce the star to his family, while the star had misgivings. But with the encouragement of Tristran, they walked toward the Wall together.
Part IV
昨天和今天的部分里有好多地方都别有深意啊。
比如在Septimus想怎么复仇的时候，他提到自己家族有定位的能力，正好Tristran也有，所以Tristran应该是下一个国王没得跑了，而且觉得作者好细致啊，为了让Tristran当国王，还从血缘的角度补充了他当国王的“合法性”。
在Tristran沉睡而他们即将到达meadow的时候，Tristran母亲化成的那只鸟一直在叫，感觉她是想叫醒Tristran，告诉他星星女越过墙就会变成石头的事，而这一章最后，作者用了rueful这个词来形容星星的微笑，这是个不好的征兆。
