<I love school > is written by Philemon Sturges. Illustrated by Shari Halpern.This is a very good book to introduce school day to the kid who is going to the kindergarten. Because the pictures of the book is very simple and clear. We will learned what would children do at school easily. Come alone to a warm, friendly world of reading and writing, singing and painting, and all around fun that will make you want to yell, “I love school!”
According to the school calendar, Libby took a day off today. She told me that she wanted to give me an English lesson.
Libby is my second daughter, She always makes my balcony to be a classroom. She like playing teacher and student with her dolls very much. This is the first time, I was seriously playing teacher and student with her.
Before the class, I had given her some advice on how to run a class. She worked very hard. At first, she read through the book, looking for the words which she didn’t know. She tried her best to read them fluently. Then she prepared some toys for teaching. She was so happy. Because I was her student, not animals and dolls anymore.
Teacher Libby made me read after her, then she asked few questions on each page. She performed very professionally.
On the first page, she asked me to answer her question: “how many students are there? Let’s count them together.” I pretended I didn’t know how to count numbers, that made her laughing so hard!
On this page, she built a block wall for introducing what a block wall is to me.
On this page, she asked, “ what do you like to do? Drawing or painting?
On this page, she asked, “ do you like slide? Do you like swing?”
On this page, she asked, “ what is it? What is he (it) doning?”
Well, on this page, she didn’t know what “ trade”means. I told her in Chinese. Then she made a sentence with it. She pretended that was what I didn’t know on this page.
She said, “ I am telling a story to you now.”
On this page,
“ Do you like me?” Asked Libby.
I said,“yes, I love you!”
“You are a good girl!” She praised me.
Libby could tell an English story with little help. I am so proud of her today.
