Insight
Never before that I ' ve known the clean energy could bring so many side effects that are no less than its advantages. But the ultimate decision that we made, putting renewables first, is based on the fact that it's the only way to survive. The balance between Economic development and environment seems to be a corney conflict. Now it comes the time when we have no choice but invest more on clean energy despite that it will disrupt the market and lower electricity prices .
According to the Economist , two ways may help fix the problem: one is new technology, including digitalization, smart meters智能电表 and batteries ,enables companies and households to do some energy-intensive work at night. The other is to redesign power markets to reflect the new need for flexible supply and demand, which means a high fixed price was given to prevent blackouts at times of extreme scarcity as a reward for those who generate more of it.
More importantly, the cause of this turmoil in the electricity market is not renewable energy, but the out -of -date system of electricity pricing.
Solution
Even though in the Economist ,the author gives us two feasible ways yet I couldn't agree.because it's too vague to carry down-to-earth measures for each different country. The intensive demand for electricity cannot be compensated by batteries or put off till night. So I feel that maybe there is no ultimate solution for us,what we are doing is to measure the losses and gains between the interest groups ,and till one day the environmental problems are so serious that we ,all of us,need to give up our economic development .
