Good morning readers! It’s a Saturday. And we should go out and have some fun, right? I almost had to force myself not looking at my desk and computer at home and just go out!
I have figured out something new for my next steps for the project last night. I couldn’t wait to try the new method. But I knew if I sit down at my desk, several hours of time would have passed in a blink. So go out and bike, the work can wait!
I didn’t take my triathlon bike out this morning. It’s a lot safer to ride a hybrid bike on the sidewalks because I wanted to be relaxed and continue to listen to Dan Brown’s book, the 《Origin》. Still remember that I was interrupted two days ago when I was driving 75 miles per hour on a highway and listening to this book?
I was wondering whether this book would be as exciting as his other books such as《The De Vinci Code》or 《Angels and Demons》. Only a half way listening into the story, I think I’m not disappointed. Dan Brown is a great author that I admire. He demonstrated tremendous knowledge in the latest scientific development, the religions, the history and philosophy in his writing. And his writing style is so precise and simple in his stories. Sometimes I felt like one more word would have been too much, one word less would have not been adequate.
I also enjoyed the narrator of this book, Paul Michael, whose voice is so clear on every word in this book. Not only he mimics the accent of people in different background of educations and classes, but also in different foreign languages included Spanish, Italian or Arabic. I was thrilled to hear some simple sentences or words in Spanish that I could understand since that’s what I’m trying to learn.
One more thing, the Spanish royal palace press secretary, a female character in the story, was described as a very talented, enthusiastic young girl who graduated from the “very prominent Tsinghua University in Beijing”. I’m so glad that the school was getting this kind publicity in a popular novel in the western world.
Anyway, I did my one hour bike ride in our scenery park land. I have to stop listening because I will have work to do.
Enjoy your weekend! Cheers!
