芒格在人类误判心理学中,提到了二十五种错误倾向,此篇为第一种错误倾向的笔记。

1 Reward and Punishment Superresponse Tendency

(1)people often underestimate the importance of incentive.

Never, ever, think about something else when you should be thinking about the power of incentives

The most important rule in management: Get the incentives right.

(2) There is a limit to the emphasis on incentive superpower.

"To a man with only a hammer every problem looks pretty much like a nail"

consequence: incentive-caused bias, a decent man, driven both consciously and subconsciously by incentives, may drift into immoral behavior in order to get what he wants, a result he facilitates by rationalizing his bad behavior.

Implications: people who create things like cash registers, which make dishonest behavior hard to accomplish, are some of the effective saints of our civilization because bad behavior is intensely habit-forming when it is rewarded.
