Did you ever take part in a party without consuming any plastics?Yes,I did.It was afantastic experience.But when I came to office the next day.I saw this,the contrast made me uncomfortable.

Then  I searched the pictures about white pollution from internet,It really made me gut-wrenching.What’s your feeling about it?

Yeah,this is the plastics existing in the world.Which not only pollute our visual but also does great harm to both human and animals’ health,and it even can kill us.According to the report of BBC,In 1950, the world’s population of 2.5 billion produced 1.5 million tons of plastics;But in 2016, a global populationof more than 7 billion people produced over 320 million tons of plastics. And this is set to be doubled by 2034.It is amazing.How did the plastics consumption increased so rapidly?Now Let’s study the situation together.

1.Take out Business

According to the data of 2017,the take out order reaches 20,000,000 every day on each of the three main meal delivery platforms:美团外卖、饿了么、百度外卖.If each order uses one plastic bag and oneplastic meal box,the area of the plastics produced by taking out platform reach2400,000 square meters,which equals to the area of 336 football fields.

Also I made a small survey on the breakfast booths at Exict C of Shenzhen university metro station. There are 6 booths there,they sell about 2500 pcs breakfast in total every morning.Similarly,if each orderuses one plastic bag and one plastic meal box.The area of the plastics consumedevery morning is about 300 square meters.which equals to the area of 50 of thisclassroom.

2. Express Delivery Business:

From 2012 to 2018, China's express delivery business has soared from 5.6 billion to 50 billion, which means there is 38 express deliveries for each Chinese person in 2018 on average.How many parcels did you receive last year?

Let’s study the data of 2018 in details: All Chinesepeople produced about 50 billion express waybills, 24.5 million plastic bags, 5.7billion internal buffers and 43 billion meters of tape, The total length of th etape alone is 1077 times the circumference of the earth. How many plastics did all these deliveries produced in 2018?It shocked me.

3.Daily Plastic Trashes

With the development of technology,there is more and more plastic tools and articles appearin our life. From my survey,every family uses about 3-4 plastic bags per day,and most people don’t bring recycle bags when they go to supermarket.This is thesurvey results.

It seems we can’t live without plastics.But what can we do to reduce the white pollution?Also 3 suggestions.

1Reduce Take Out Order.

Have the meals in the cafeterias or restaurants,or make it yourself at home as more as possible.You can not only enjoy the delicious foodslowly but also may meet meet your Mr. or Ms. Right.

2.Not always buy buy buy,let us save plastic,save money,save time and enjoy life.Reading,Doing practice,Participating toastmasters’meeting is much more interesting than searching Taobao or Jingdong.

3.Reduce Daily Plastic Trashes.Here are three tips for you.

Reuse:Use reuseable things to replace the one time plastic articles,such as metal straw,folding cup and bowl,bring your own toiletries on travel.

Recycle:The used plastic bags can be used as trashbags,and use recycle bags as more as possible.

Reform:Some plastic trashes can be designed to bearticles.

All in all,We should improve the environmental awarement,use plastic things as little as possible.

We can’t change the world but we can change a little in our life.It is our responsibility to protect our planet.
