Haworth and the Bronte country

Haworth is a village about 16 miles south of Skipton. It is best known for its connection with the Bronte family. It also has a station on the preserved Worth Valley Railway.

The Parsonage Museum is devoted to the Bronte family and their writings. The Bronte Literary Society maintains the museum and its comprehensive collection of Bronte manuscripts, letters early editions of novels and poetry and other related items.

The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway passes through Haworth. This preserved line has a regular service and its trains are often hauled by steam locomotives. It was built to serve the textile mills that operated in the area. Most have now been demolished, but a journey along the line provides glimpses of the industrial heritage of the area.

Haworth village hosts many events throughout the year and its steep main street is lined with a variety of interesting shops and places to eat and drink.
