Part 2

Describe a time when you first met someone

You should say:

· Where you met him or her

· When you met him or her

· What you talked about

· And how you felt about it

Presentation

All right, I'd like to try and tell the story when I first met my husband in high school. It was the time I first felt deeply connected to another person.
To begin with, my husband and I were high school classmates. And we didn't actually meet each other until the second year of high school. We both participated in a school project where we had to research a certain period of history and present to the class about why we were fond of that period. My husband and I were on the same team. He was very gentleman and asked me for my opinion.Well, I wanted to talk about Tang Dynasty, one of my favourite period of ancient China.
To my surprise, it turned out that he was a fan of that historical period, too. I was very excited. And he was also very knowledgeable. I was fond of the period mostly because of the poems and works of literature. His knowledge was a lot wider so that we then talked about the literature, the silk road, the cultural exchange, everything! The discussion not only took us on a historical journey but also brought each other closer. (这里说慢点,带点情感)
So It was the first time I met him, but it was the time I thought I fell in love with him.

Part 3

How do Chinese people make new friends

To be brief, there are many ways to make new friends and I believe they are the same around the world. For instance, showing your goodwill, giving a helping hand or a simple smile would be a starter to make any new friends. But culturally, starting a conversation about food is a great way to find a common topic in China because Chinese people do put dining at the top of their priority. (民以食为天)

Do you think it’s strange to make friends online?

For this question, the answer is two-fold. First, for most young people like me, online friendship is a common thing. After graduating from college, a lot of friends in real life have become online friends to me. And I personally have a lot of in-game friends which means that we only knew each other in games. and we don't care whether in the real world there would be age difference or cultural difference.
Second, it is still strange to me to fall in love online. For me, it is just a fantasy. It is hard to imagine to love someone so much and know so little about their life.
So in my opinion, it would be strange to establish a close relationship online but it is a common thing to make friends online.

Why do some people have new friends?

Well, from my point of view, people make new friends when they go to a new environment. Nowadays, some of us lead a rather mobile life, moving from one city to another frequently, or changing their occupation very often. I believe that is the reason why they have new friends.

Which is more important, new friendships or old ones?

On the one hand, new friendships are more helpful when I am in a new environment, it can be a very important support to get me through the difficulty of adapting a new life. On the other hand, old friends can still mean a lot, with all the good memories and the trust between friends. I recently went to my friend's wedding and met a lot of my old friends for the first time in 7 years. I felt that I was more determined in life not because they could help me or something, but because they can really listen to and understand what I said. So, in all, I believe new friendships are as important as old ones. We need them both.
