crank up: (informal) to make the sound of something, especially music, louder

We cranked up the volume.

The party starts from 6:00 pm, you must remember to crank up the volume of the speaker.

3. Dad marched me up to my room and shut the door behind him, and then he said-

march:  to force someone to walk somewhere with you, often pushing or pulling them roughly march somebody to/ into etc something

4. He told me I was grounded from playing video games for two weeks, which is about what I expected.

ground: (informal) to stop a child going out with their friends as a punishment for behaving badly

I got home at 2 am and Dad grounded me on the spot.

Naughty kids are more often grounded by their parents.

5. While you're waiting, you do all these nice things to try to get off easier.

get off: if someone gets off, they are not punished for doing something wrong, or they receive only a small punishment

In the end he got off because there wasn't enough evidence against him.

The lawyer has found out evidence to make him get off.

kind of的用法。在此处相当于kinda. 相对来说比较口语化，意思就是 slightly but not exactly, or in some ways. 也可以用 sort of 来表示。

Two:

Rodrick's in some hot water with Mom right now, too.

in hot water，中文有一种表达“水深火热之中”，英文解释是 in trouble because of something that you have done. 

My sentence:

After World War Two, German was in hot water and was nearly in ruins.

Composition:

I was exhausted today.

I wanted to fall asleep in every minute. Maybe I have got up too early  5 o'clock in the morning and did not have a rest in the afternoon. I used to sleep 10 minutes in the afternoon.  10 minutes are enough for me to be energetic again. If not, I will feel exhausted and want to do nothing but sleep.

The whole afternoon was in a mess. I have known  the truth that you have to fight against the changing habit with every muscle. And you'll fail in most times but succeed in persistent  efforts.
