The prince and the princess lived happily ever after, which is so familiar to all of us. Not only fairy tales, novels and poems, but also cartoons, comic books, TV dramas and movies are bubbled with happy ending love stories influencing the views on love and marriage of many children and teenagers, who become to believe that everyone can find the one. But it may soon collapse (or not that soon but then it would be even more serious) when they get out of their fantasy land and enter the real life. Unfortunately, I am definitely one of them, who are now extremly confused about marriage. So what about you?
How many of us once have dreamt of this kind of romantic stories that ever happen on us?
When did you stop watching those Mary-sue or Tom-sue craps?
And do you still feel touched when you attend weddings?
It’s quite hard for me to be excited of the weddings now. However when I was a teenager, I felt so touched and happy at one of my cousins’ wedding. What’s more, I sang a song to them for blessings which I myself wrote the lyrics. Now I would like to translate and read a part of it to you guys.
We have the same light in heart
To lighten all the shadows and darkness
We are shelters for each other
No matter how wonderful scenery at hand
The place we live is a cloud
And tenderness helps us settle down
We have a piece of ice in hand
Which can easily hurt you and me
But we melt the glass by heart
With knowing life not only sweet
At that time, I didn’t truly understand the lyrics, and I still don’t fully get it now even I did write it by my own. Although a lot of theories have become our common sense, some of us still haven’t practised in the real life. People like me prefer to indulge in empty talk of love and marriage, rather than take a step and try. So for boys and girls like me, there is no doubt that marriage is far away, but not that far away. What we need is just take an action.
And about the recent wedding I attended as the bridesmaid, what I told you guys is that I realized that weddings are not only about happiness sharing and promise swearing, but also a ceremony of gratitude of the world. The new couples feel grateful of the parents, the signifcant other, all the families and friends and other people have come or not come to the wedding, and every beautiful thing in the world. Marriage is also a long term ceremony of gratitude. Only by taking the responsibilities as well as having our own children can we realize what an excellent job our parents and other people or things once have down and the true meaning of life.
After all, marriage is not a huge thing you know, but a tiny thing as any other things, or at least is made of endless tiny things. Don’t separate yourself into pre-marriage and after-marriage. Because we have nothing but presence. If you enjoy everyday, do not feel regret of each day, and become better and better, marriage will become only one of your tiny choices. No matter what option you choose, you will live happily ever after. Because you, are, the happiness itself.
