Something written at the beginning

In fact, I really don't know how to say goodbye to 2017, cause I'm not ready at all. Times fly so fast and I have a lot of things not done yet just now but planned at the beginning of 2017, for example, reading, writing ,coding and so on.

But I think facing the facts is more important than just standing here and not moving forward. And to summarize is a best way to help me move, so here we go.

Work

It's been more than a year since I came to IQIYI last September. Actually, during this year, my working ability didn't improve very much. The main reason is that I usually did some repeat work again and again, then I can't find the passion for it. Interest is essential to do well in the work, so I’ve been thinking to alternate the direction of my work for a long time. I talked to some good friends about it, and they all told me: since you want to change it you must prepare and move as soon as possible.

Now, I only need a plan and realize it!!!

Travel

Travel's a rather pleasant topic for me.

Danny(my husband) and I went to several cities of Japan, including Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka in March 2017. I did the trip plan and booked the hotels and air tickets all by myself which was really a tiring and interesting process.

During the trip to Japan, we met a lot of kind people who helped and guided us when we lost in the complex subway station who translated menu for us when we can't understand the menu...

The cities there are amazingly clean and we were impressed by the well preserved ancient buildings. The cherry blossoms in Tokyo’s parks,such as Ueno park,Shinjuku royal park,Meguro Gawa,are very beautiful. As the wind blows, it's like under the cherry rain. We went to Chidorigafuchi, a city river, where we enjoyed boating under big cherry trees for the entire forenoon. We ate a lot of yummy food and tried something new. All in all, it's really memorable trip and I think I'll still choose to travel abroad all by ourselves next time.

Danny and I climbed Mount Taishan during a night in August, toured to Jinan City, wandered the Daming Lake and Baoto spring which we've read in the elementary school textbooks. Still, we could't miss the delicious food there and anything.

Then, Danny and I together with another couple went to Qinghai Province and Gansu Province during National Day holidays. We saw beautiful clouds, Qinghai Lake and Qilian Mount. It's really exciting and terrible for us to drive over the high snow mountain. For me, it's the first time to drive a MPV car and the road is dangerous, so I must drive rather carefully. And then after this trip, my driving skill's dramatically improved. When we return to Beijing, I dare to drive on any roads at any time.

I think travel's been a essential part of my life, so it'll be kept 2018.

Coding And Professional study

I really coded a lot on the leetcode.com in the first half of 2017. I attended the coding contest at almost every weeks. But after May I had a new plan to do, then the coding had to be delayed. I always know it's import to code for a programmer, however the time is so tight and I must balance the interest and coding or something like that. So it's tough to continue the coding all the time.

Professional study encountered the same situation with coding. I studied the deep learning net class of Andrew NG for almost a month in September. Actually, it's a good class to have ML started. Nevertheless, I quit it at the end of September, cause I planned to prepare for TOEFL.

Sports

Talking about sports, it's always encouraging me. This year Danny and I started running at the start of May if i didn't confuse the time and we'v kept running in the morning three or four times a week until October. Every year, when the summer passes, Danny and I get lazy and don't want to move again. When the winter passes, we get active and start to exercise. It's kind of like forever loop.

Oh, another sport I must mention is the skiing. I went to ski with several ex coworkers. I got to learn snowboarding and it's really awesome.

Reading and writing

It's really embarrassing to talk about reading, cause the amount of my reading was way too little. The only book name I can refer to is the A Game of thrones I read almost 200 pages and that's a original edition.

Compared with last year, the amount of blogs written was improved, but the quality of them still stuck there. I think that's due to the lack of input.

Since reading is a kind of input and writing is a kind of output, so if I want to make a progress in writing I must increase the amount of input.

English study

I think English study is a topic I can't skip. During 2017, I really spend a lot of time on it, including spoken english and TOEFL. I attended a spoken English class on May 30. I picked up English learning after the third level and the fourth level of spoken english class. Gradually, I find there's a lot to learn, then I decided to study for TOEFL. I began to attend a TOEFL class on October 28. Even though more than half of a year has passed since I began to restudy english, I am not confident to say that I can pronounce very well. So I realize that the study of english maybe a long time work and I must keep speaking. For English, if you don't speak it one day it will be unfamiliar to your tongue again.

During the spoken class, I met very nice teacher and classmates. They took me to a new world I've never imagined. It's is a remarkable thing of 2017.

Conclusion

In 2017, the time conflict's a most terrible problem for me. I dare to say I really use the time well, but there's still a lot of things to be done. So I must sort all the things and start to deal with it from the top in 2018.

At last, Thanks all the people and things I met in 2017 and all of you together make me better.

It's hard to say goodbye to 2017, but it's gone.
