Lesson31 Success story
Yesterday afternoon Frank Hawkins was telling me/miː/about his experiencesas a young man. Before he/hiː/retired, Frank was thehead of a very/ˈvɛri/large business company/ˈkʌmpəni/, but as a boy he/hiː/ used to work in a small shop. It was his job to repairbicycles and at thattime he/hiː/used to work fourteen/ˈfɔːˈtiːn/hours a day. He/hiː/saved money/ˈmʌni/for years and in 1958he/hiː/bought a small work-shopof his own. In his twenties, Frank used to make spare parts for aeroplanes. Atthat time he/hiː/had two helpers. In afew years, the small work-shop had become a large factory/ˈfæktəri/which employed sevenhundred and twenty-eight/ˈtwɛnti-eɪt/people/ˈpiːpl/. Frank smiled when he/hiː/remembered his hardearly/ˈɜːli/years and the long roadto success. He/hiː/was still smiling whenthe door opened and his wife came in. She/ʃiː/wanted him to repair their grandson's bicycle!
