在一则高中校长给新入高一学生的视频里面，高中校长给高一学生描述了未来2年的高中生活、描述了未来3年的大学生活、然后又描绘了未来5年后开始的职业生涯、随之又描绘到15年后的婚姻、家庭生活。在这位校长的眼里，人生到一定阶段会定型，会一成不变，波澜不惊的。而后面一位年轻老师一席话，否定了这位校长的观点。
Mr.Headmaster：
"Good morning,Year Elevens.Today's assembly is about the start of a journey.The start of the rest your lives.
(早上好，11年级的同学们，今天的集会的主题是关于一段旅程的新的开始,它将开启你今后的人生)
In 2 years time all of you will be fininshing your A levels.
(再过两年，你们将会以A等级级完成你的学业)
In 3 years time you will be studying across the world,studying at the university of your choices.

In 5 years time you willhave started your careers.

In 10 years time your life will be set for you.

The Young Teacher：
“I'm sorry ,Mr .Headmaster.Let me tell you why that approach may fail you.

I know people who graduated 21,and didn't get a job until they were 27.
(有的人21岁毕业，却知道27岁才找到工作）
I know people who graduated 25 and they find work immediately.

I know people they were never go to university,but found what they love at 18.
（有的人没有上过大学，但在他18岁那年找到了他的所热爱的事）
I know people who found a job straight out of college making decent money,but hate what they do.

I know people who took gap years and found their purpose.
（有的人花多年的时间去寻找自我）
I know people who was so sure about what they were going to do at 16,they change their mind at 26.
（有的人16岁就十分清楚他们内心要什么，但到26岁时却改变想法）
I know people who have a children but are single,and I know people who are married but had to wait 8 to 10 years to have children.
（有的人有孩子但却单身；有的人结婚10年才要了小孩）
I know people in relationship who love someone else.
（有的人身处一段感情当中爱的却是别人）
I know people who love each other but aren't together.
（有的人明明相爱却无法相守）
So my point is everything in life happens accroding to our time,our clock.
（我想说是人生中的每一件事都取决于我们自己）
You may look at some of your friends and think that they're ahead of you，may some of your friends you feel are behind，
（也许有些你的朋友比你遥遥领先，有些朋友落后于你）
but everything happens at their own pace.
（但凡事都有它自己的节奏）
They have their own time and clock and so do you.Be patient.Don't let anyone rush you with their timelines.
（他们有自己的节奏，你也有你自己的节奏。所以请你耐心点,不要让别人扰乱你的时间线）
Because as Einstein said:“Not everything that counts can be counted,and not everything that's counted truely counts.
（因为正如爱因斯坦所说：“并不是每一件计算出来的事情都是有意义的，也不是每一件有意义的事情都能被计算出来的。”）
And this is most important thing,I want you to be able to create meanningful,purposeful fullfilling lives for yourselves and learn how to use that to make an impact and a difference in the lives of others.
