Today, there was a party held at Ling's house. Two pretty ladies named Tania and Ketty and two male missionaries were invited and we had fried dumplings and hot sour soup as dinner. Actually, I was just a helper wrapping the dumplings and I was really ashamed of my poor skills. Instead of giving myself up, I learnt from Ling and Jenny how to glue the dumpling skins and wrap the fillings inside. Step by step, I became even more confident in my works although mine were the ugliest and fewest ones.
During the dinner, we enjoyed the cuisine while talking freely about numerous topics. As my English speaking skills were far behind the other people, I was somehow shy at the beginning. But then I realised this was a good chance to practice English and I do believe that practice makes perfect. So I tried to listen to others with my ears wide open and also express my ideas when necessary. Rather than trying to speak at a pretty fast pace as before, I focused more on the content and expressions. In this way, I could better think and communicate in English.
Thereafter, the two missionaries shared a video telling people what the Christian religion involves and why people should obey the gospel to pursue a more meaningful life. Firstly, the children of God will use their knowledge and skills to help those in need and it is totally a work of love. Moreover, the power of belief is tremendous, believing in God can help people to live with integrity and love and also protect their families. I think there is still a long way for me to go before being able to get a clear picture of this religion and figure out whether I want to adopt it as my belief. And I am especially grateful to Ling and Garry that they never rush me into anything but guide me in a positive way. Thank you for everything!
